Rookie the Reindeer fit and healthy for Bodelwyddan Castle charity fun run

The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) will be holding its first Reindeer Run fun run event at Bodelwyddan Castle this November to help raise funds for the charity that saves lives at sea. Rookie the Reindeer and friends will be cheering on runners and strollers across the Castle grounds on Sunday 27 November as the popular fundraising event debuts in North Wales this winter.

The RNLI Reindeer Run welcomes runners and strollers of all abilities to join in the fun and help raise vital funds for the volunteer lifeboat crews this winter. Participants can choose to take part in a 5k or 10k fun run around the beautiful surroundings of Bodelwyddan Castle.

Victoria Foulkes a Veterinary Nurse from Llanfair Talhaiarn, has already signed up for the Reindeer Run at Bodelwyddan Castle. She recently met up with Rookie at the Castle for a quick health check to ensure that he’s fit and well before he starts his epic tour as the festive fun runs are held across the country during the run up to Christmas.

‘After I heard about the RNLI Reindeer Run at Bodelwyddan Castle I wanted to take part because the RNLI is such a great cause. The training is going well and hopefully I’ll get a personal best in the race this November.

‘As a family we’ve always been RNLI supporters – as children we always went to station open days and I’m sure my Grandad, who’s a huge supporter, will be very proud. I’m glad to be able to take part because it’s a great cause and a much needed service across the coast.’

Charlotte Bird, RNLI Events Manager invites runners, walkers and strollers to sign up and take part in the festive event:

‘Registration is now open for the RNLI Reindeer Run at Bodelwyddan Castle, and so far we have seen a great reaction to the runs with a number of teams already signed up. There’s a warm welcome for runners, walkers and strollers of all ages and abilities to join in the festive fun at the Castle grounds this November.

‘There will be plenty of festive entertainment for family and friends to enjoy within the Castle grounds as you support your loved ones. Entry fees for the Reindeer Run are £18 for the 10K, £16 for the 5km and £7.50 for the Santa Saunter, with under 5’s entering for free. All participants will receive a t-shirt and a free pair of reindeer antlers and a flashing red nose to speed them on their way and a mince pie and hot drink at the finish line.’
