The RSPCA is appealing for information after a cat and her kitten were found abandoned in a cardboard box.
The black and white cat and her 10-week-old kitten were found at around 9am on Monday (28 July) scratching and crying in the closed box in an alleyway to the side of Frank Road in Ely.
It is unknown how long they had been there. The two cats appeared to be healthy but were covered in fleas. The cat is not microchipped so her owner cannot be identified.
RSPCA animal collection officer Sarah Davies said: “They have quite a lot of fleas on them and they are quite nervous cats. They are lovely but just a bit traumatised. It is such a shame when this happens. We would rather the person called us first instead of just being irresponsible and abandoning their pets.”
In a separate incident, a kitten was found near Moy Street in Roath on Monday (28 July) at around 4.30pm. The scared moggie who is grey/white in colour, had been running in and out of traffic.
Sarah said: “This poor kitten is only around nine weeks old. A kindhearted member of the public found him running in and out of traffic and called us.”
The cats have been placed into our care and will be made available for rehoming if the owners do not come forward.
