Rural projects success highlighted in celebration booklet

To mark the success of Denbighshire County Council’s Rural Key Fund a booklet has been produced highlighting the projects within the rural communities of Denbighshire that were successful in their funding bids.

Twenty one projects were successful with applications for Rural Key Fund grants in Denbighshire over the past three years. A total of £338,929 was awarded in capital grants, although the actual value of the projects supported was £1.5 million.

These 21 projects meant that 19 communities benefited from improved facilities which resulted in over 900 individuals, in rural Denbighshire, being able to access new activities and services not previously available.

The successful applicants were:

  • Trefnant Village Hall

  • Llanynys Playing Fields Association
  • Canolfan Awelon, Ruthin
  • Llanfwrog Community Centre
  • Llanbedr Dyffryn Clwyd Community Council
  • The Old Schoolroom, Llanarmon yn Iâl
  • Raven Inn, Llanarmon yn Iâl
  • Neuadd Pwllglas
  • Canolfan Cae Cymro, Clawddnewydd
  • Capel MC Vestry, Derwen
  • Canolfan Gymdeithasol Melin y Wig
  • Parish Rooms, Bryneglwys
  • Neuadd Carrog
  • ECTARC, Llangollen
  • St Collens Community Hall, Llangollen

Councillor David Thomas, Cabinet Lead Member for Regeneration, said: “The Rural Key Fund allowed capital grants to be awarded to community led projects that enhanced the quality of life and strengthen capacity within Denbighshire’s rural communities.

“Successful projects were those which encouraged the participation of local people in activities, improved the quality of local services and sustain the demand for local services.’
