Having lobbied both this and the previous Cardiff Governments for a strategic policy to maximise the commercial benefits of the development of “offshore” wind turbines in the Bristol Channel, Pembrokeshire AM Angela Burns has received a letter from Edwina Hart AM, Minister for Business, Enterprise, Technology and Science informing her that in 2012 the Welsh Government will be holding, in conjunction with RWE npower, supply chain events for local companies to find out more about the opportunities available.
Angela Burns said “This is a significant opportunity for Welsh businesses and local companies in particular, to see if they can benefit from a new sector of energy generation. From accommodation, engineering, specialised marine services plus all the on-going support and maintenance services, the Atlantic Array will hopefully bring much needed jobs and revenue to West Wales.
