Safety message for pub goers

pubA bar in Llandudno has joined forces with North Wales Police and the Conwy Community Safety Partnership to help spread the safety message to revellers.

Staff at Club 147 on Mostyn Street have been given T-shirts, funded by the Partnership, that feature slogans that advise customers to drink responsibly and that drunken and violent behaviour will not be tolerated.

PC Alyn Smith from the Community Safety Department of North Wales Police said: “This initiative represents a team effort between police, the partnership and licensed premises bar staff to help discourage alcohol fuelled violence and anti-social behaviour.

“This is the second time we’ve used this initiative in the Central Division area as a similar scheme has been undertaken at The Plough public house in St Asaph.

He added: “The T-shirts, which will be worn by the bar staff, will deliver a clear message on the need for sensible drinking, and that any acts of alcohol related disorder will simply not be tolerated.”

Club 147 recently won an award from the Partnership for the best run bar in Conwy and Denbighshire. The manager, Sam Bridge said: “The T-shirts have been very well received. As the messages are quite catchy, customers are engaging with the staff to find out more about the initiative.

“We are pleased to be part of this campaign and hope that people take note that we will not tolerate drunken or abusive behaviour.”

Local Community Beat Manager, PC Gary Donnelly said: “Local officers have a good relationship with the bar and door staff at Club 147, and we are proud to be working together to help make Llandudno an even safer place to enjoy a night out.”
