Shoppers in Blackwood were greeted with a festive sight today when a team of hard-working Santas decended on the town centre with rubbish bags, brooms and litter grabbers to take part in a special Christmas clean up.
The staff, from Caerphilly county borough council’s cleansing teams, got into the festive spirit while they were cleaning up local grot(to) spots.
Christmas is a busy time for everyone and that includes the council’s cleansing service who have to collect, recycle and dispose of mountains of food packaging and other debris from the festive period.
The authority’s ‘Tidy Towns’ and Fast Forward teams cleaned up around the Market Place and the bus interchange.
CCBC cabinet member for the environment, Cllr Lyn Ackerman, also went along to thank the workforce for their efforts throughout the year.
