Get ready to rock this New Year when the Counterfeit Stones roll into town for the annual Calennig celebrations supported by Queens Arcade.

Spend the night with the world’s best Stones tribute act and go wild for Nick Dagger and Keef Rickard as the boys start you up ready to see in 2010 when they headline the free live music stage at the Civic Centre. DJ’s will get you in the mood from 8pm followed by Masters of swing, King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys from 9.30pm.

The Calennig fun starts with the Admiral Family Fire Show at Cardiff Castle with the gates opening at 6pm and the show starting at 7pm.

Wrap up the kids and get ready for a spectacular underwater adventure called The Diving Bell. The show  takes you on a journey into uncharted territory through the use of light puppetry, video production, fire, music and of course fantastic fire works

Skating is available throughout the evening on New Year’s Eve at bmibaby Cardiff Winter Wonderland with a special session from 11pm to 12.15am to skate in the New Year. Please note advanced booking is recommended.

Visitors to bmibaby Cardiff Winter Wonderland can also relax at the ice café bar or keep an eye on the action at the heated terrace overlooking the ice.  A traditional helter skelter, children’s carousel and rides ensure there’s something for everyone.

The Family Funfair is open from noon on New Year’s Eve until 1am on New Year’s Day or enjoy a ride on the John Lewis Wheel which offers spectacular views across the city.

The steel wheels of the Admiral Free New Year’s Eve Bus Service also supported by the Safer Capital Partnership returns once again this New Year, helping take the strain out of getting into the capital’s premier New Year’s Eve celebrations. The free service will offer buses in and out of the city on New Years Eve, running from 7.30pm until 2am on New Years Day.

Executive Member for Sport, Culture and Leisure, Cllr Nigel Howells, said: “The festive season can be an expensive time, so I am delighted that once again we are able to offer free New Year entertainment. The programme of events is varied and there is something for everyone to enjoy, as they see in 2010.”

Admiral’s People Services Manager, Ceri Assiratti, said, “As always, Cardiff will be busy this New Year’s Eve with the Admiral Family Fire Show and Calennig celebrations. We want people to enjoy the evening without worrying about how they will get home safely afterwards. Hopefully this reassurance will add to everyone’s enjoyment of the New Year’s celebrations.”
