Schools and community benefits with proposed sports facility

Cardiff Council is outlining proposals for a new all-weather sports facility at Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf.

As part of the Council’s Schools Organisation Plan, the school’s existing sports facilities would be boosted with the addition of a floodlit Astro Turf Pitch (ATP) that could be used by the school and community.

The proposed pitch would be constructed to international hockey size and standard, and would be used exclusively by the school up until 5.30pm and only on weekdays.

The Schools and Lifelong Learning Service will be submitting the proposals to the Planning Committee shortly and the proposals will be subject to all the usual processes. The community will also be consulted on the proposals.

The pitch will then be subject to further consultation with the community regarding potential community use out of hours and at weekends, and it is proposed that any community use would be regulated by community members.
