Secure your homes, garages and sheds

Police in the Wrexham South District are urging the public to be extra vigilant in the run up to the festive season.

The warning comes following a number of house and shed burglaries in the district where opportunist criminals have entered houses, sheds and outbuildings and stolen items including bicycles, cash and home entertainment equipment.

In many of these cases residents have left homes and sheds unlocked.

Inspector Iwan Jones said: “We are urging people to check that houses, sheds and outbuildings are locked day and night and that nothing of value is left on display which could attract a passing thief.

“Many families have expensive Christmas gifts at home and everyone should be extra vigilant to safeguard their belongings.

“We would also remind motorists to ensure that their vehicles are left secure and not to leave items such as mobile phones and satellite navigation systems on view.”

Anyone with information about thefts in the area should call North Wales Police on 101 or via Crime Stoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
