Sign up for Barry Island Sport Relief Mile

The Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile at Barry Island is just two weeks away, with Sunday, 21 March, set to be an unforgettable day.

Loads of local people have already signed up so others need to enter quickly to ensure places for all their friends, family and workmates.

Entrants can choose their own distance challenge – one, three or six miles – and the event takes place on the seafront from 10am, with the mile starting at 11am.

Vale of Glamorgan Council events officer Sarah Jones said:”The Barry Island Mile is set to be an amazing day. It’s fantastic that so many people of the Vale are gathering together to show their support for Sport Relief 2010.”

The choice of distances means that, from teeny tots with their mums and dads, to super sprinters up against the clock, there’s something for everyone on the big day. By getting sponsored to do the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile, you’ll be helping to make a big difference. The money raised will be spent by Comic Relief to help transform lives here in the UK and across the world’s poorest countries.

Sport Relief has a unique history of dedicated people doing extraordinary things to rise to the challenge. Last summer Eddie Izzard set an incredible standard by running an amazing 43 marathons in 51 days around the UK and there’ll be even more amazing celebrity challenges to get the whole nation geared up for the Sport Relief Weekend, from David Walliams and friends on the BT Sport Relief Million Pound Bike Ride, to Helen Skelton’s Amazing Amazon Adventure, and Christine Bleakley’s Thomson Sport Relief Waterski Challenge.
