Social enterprise goes from strength to strength

Clwyd West AM Darren Millar has praised the work of a social enterprise which is helping hundreds of vulnerable people across North Wales.

ARC Communities based in Colwyn Bay provides services for the homeless and socially disadvantaged in partnership with local churches and community groups. It operates drop-in facilities in Colwyn Bay, Rhyl and Bangor, providing hot meals, activities and other support with the help of volunteers.

Speaking at the official launch of ARC Communities this week, Darren Millar said:

‘From small beginnings just two years ago this social enterprise is now making a real difference to the lives of hundreds of needy people across North Wales every single week.

‘I’m pleased to see local churches playing such an active role in supporting ARC. In making their buildings available, collecting food for distribution and providing essential volunteers, these faith groups are making a hugely positive contribution to their local communities – they are a perfect example of the Big Society in action in North Wales.

‘I’m delighted that such a worthwhile organisation is based in my constituency and wish it every success in the future.’
