Social media surgeries: help for residents in need of social media guidance

Monmouthshire residents and community groups who want to know how to use social media websites like Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, and blogs can register to attend the Monmouthshire social media surgery in Chepstow this week.

The ‘Monmouthshire social media surgeries’ have been initiated by Monmouthshire Council officers to get people online if they want to be more engaged and empowered to create their own online communities.

A social media surgery is a very informal event where people who have experience of using social media are brought together with people who want to learn more about how these tools can help them.

Leader of Monmouthshire County Council, Peter Fox, said:

“Getting started can be daunting though and these surgeries help residents or community groups to take the first steps into this exciting world.

“Even if you already have some experience of social media but want to take it to the next level, come along with your specific challenge and we’ll match you up to some leading edge social media experts.

“The social media experts will bring their own laptops so attendees need only register and turn up.”

The social media surgery will take place on Friday March 25th from 6pm – 8pm in the Limetree Café Bar in Chepstow.

Both those people who want to help and those asking for help must register on the social media surgery website http://socialmediasurgery.com/events/159.
