Something for everyone this season at the ‘Stute

The summer may not be behind us quite yet… but Blackwood Miners’ Institute has unveiled its Autumn 2011 programme of events, which promises to offer the best in comedy, drama, family entertainment, music, dance and much more!

More first class comedy is coming to Blackwood – the hugely popular ‘Stute Comedy Nights will return on Friday 9th September, with shows also on Friday 7th October, Friday 4th November and Friday 2nd December.

Each show promises laughs aplenty courtesy of three top comedians on the UK comedy circuit.

And who could forget the fantastic ‘Up ‘n’ Under’, the non-stop comedy set in the heart of the South Wales Valleys and the competitive world of amateur rugby union. With a genuine Welsh flavour and packed with topical humour and rugby songs – this new and exciting show is definitely not to be missed!

This is a unique collaboration with the original author John Godber, presented by Black RAT Productions and Blackwood Miners’ Institute.

Up ‘n’ Under comes to the ‘Stute between Monday 3rd October and Wednesday 5th October.

Audiences won’t be short of choice when it comes to live music on offer either…with performances from Wishbone Ash on Saturday 8th October, Beyond Buble, a tribute to Michael Buble, on Friday 14th October, Voice from the Heart, which is an amazing journey through the greatest hits of The Carpenters, on Friday 21st October and the amazing T.Rextasy on Thursday 3rd November.

And following last year’s sell-out Halloween party, 4th Street Traffic are back for another amazing gig ‘Halloween Party 2’ on Saturday 29th October!

Families are also fully catered for once again this season, with lots of fun family entertainment! Mr Honk and his sad Trombone will be coming to the ‘Stute on Saturday 24th September, Little Howard’s Big Show will also pay a visit during half term on Tuesday 25th October.

The wonderful family tale, The Elves and the Shoemaker will be at the ‘Stute on Saturday 26th November and Visiting Katt and Fredda will complete this season’s family fun line up when it visits the ‘Stute on Saturday 12th November!

There will also be drama aplenty, with the poignant and entertaining Biting the Bullet by Frank Vickery between Monday 7th November and Wednesday 9th November and the farcical Accidental Death of an Anarchist by Dario Fo on Wednesday 2nd November.

Add in a touch of Dirty Dancing – the song and dance experience – on Saturday 22nd October, and a large helping of Christmas entertainment (a long way off yet!) in the shape of the wonderful pantomime Peter Pan starring Owen Money, not to mention a wide range of community and amateur theatre productions… there really is something to suit everyone at the ‘Stute this season!
