Special dogs visit school in Wrexham

wagtailsChildren at a Wrexham primary school got an insight into the way specially trained dogs can help the police in their work to cut crime.

Meg, a Springer Spaniel and Benson, a Labrador, both drug detection dogs, were guests of honour at Ysgol Tanyfron recently where they took part in a demonstration to show what drug dogs do and how they can be used to help the police in their work.

Organised by local PCSO Rebecca Stallard and PC Paula Wright, the working dogs from Wagtail UK demonstrated how they could find objects hidden in the classroom and an object hidden on one of the children.

PCSO Rebecca Stallard said; “The children thoroughly enjoyed their afternoon and loved being able to join in with the demonstrations with the dogs. It was a brilliant event for all of us and we would love to hold a similar one again soon as it was so much fun and very informative for the children.”

Wagtail UK provides specialist drug dogs to help investigate and solve crimes with the police. They help search buildings, cars, ships, people and so on and travel all over the country on operations.

Wagtail UK is keen to organise demonstrations in schools and youth clubs so they can show people exactly what they do and how the dogs work.
