Spruced-up communities come up smelling of roses

The Chairman of Denbighshire County Council has praised three communities in the county for their tireless work to spruce up their areas, earning them national honours.

Councillor Meirick Lloyd Davies has offered his congratulations to Rhyl, Prestatyn and Meliden for their success in this year’s Wales in Bloom competition.

Rhyl
came a close second in the Class 3 Town Trophy, with Prestatyn was placed third.

Meliden came second in the Class 6 Large Village Trophy and Ysgol Mair, Rhyl was second in the Schools Gardening Competition.

Councillor Lloyd Davies said: “I am delighted to congratulate Rhyl, Prestatyn and Meliden for their success in this year’s competition.

“This is really a prestigious honour and we shouldn’t under-estimate the amount of work that has gone on in these communities, in preparation for this year’s competition.

“Local residents, community groups and staff from Denbighshire’s public realm teams have worked tirelessly to spruce up these neighbourhoods and their combined efforts certainly seemed to have impressed the judges this year.

“I would also like to congratulate staff and pupils at Ysgol Mair for their success. Coming second in the whole of Wales is a tremendous achievement. The whole school should be proud of this success”.
