Staff at Flintshire County Council celebrate academic success

Over 200 staff at Flintshire
County Council have been rewarded for their hard work during recent award ceremonies. The staff from the Community Services Directorate received a wide range of awards, including NVQs and professional and vocational certificates.

Such has been the level of their success over the last year, that two awards ceremonies have taken place recently, to recognise their achievements.

Both events were opened by Flintshire County Council’s Chief Executive Colin Everett.

The first awards ceremony took place at the Holiday Inn, Northop Hall, on 7 July when 133 social care staff gained a wide range of NVQ awards in Health & Social Care at levels 2, 3 and 4. These included nine foster carers and 54 social care staff from independent sector care providers in the county, who achieved their qualifications through the Flintshire Social Care Workforce Development Partnership.

The certificates were presented by Cllr Carol Ellis, Executive Member for Social Services.

The second awards ceremony also took place at the Holiday Inn, on July 14, when a further 98 staff were presented with professional and vocational awards. These went to social workers, housing staff, managers and support staff from across Social Services and Housing Services.

The certificates were presented by Cllr Carol Ellis, Executive Member for Social Services and Cllr Helen Yale, Executive Member for Housing. Alan Butterworth, Head of Development & Resources; Clare Budden, Head of Housing Services and Carol Salmon, Head of Children’s Services were also at the awards, as were members of the Scrutiny Committee.

Over the two events a total of 231 employees received recognition of their achievements.
