Staff generosity towards children’s ward

Childrens WardNorth Wales Police have helped spread the Christmas joy to those who are in hospital at this time of year.

Officers and staff from the Force’s Operational Communications Division in St Asaph recently held a collection towards the children’s ward at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd, where over 50 selection boxes and £110 was raised.

Police staff member Joanne Hampson who works at OCD and who had arranged the collection said: “This is the first time we’ve had a collection for the ward at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd. With Christmas just around the corner we decided we wanted to do something for the local children so we just sent out an email to all the staff asking for donations.

“The response was great and we are really pleased to have been able to bring a little smile to the children’s faces.

She added: “It was great to meet some of the ward’s play leaders and nurses, who told us the selection boxes would be distributed at the ward’s Christmas party and the money raised towards a new television.”

Pat Edwards, Play Specialist at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd said: “Christmas is an awful time for children to be in hospital. The kindness of people is extremely overwhelming and we would like to thank everyone who has donated.”
