Standards Conference Wales

Cardiff Council will this year host the Standards Conference Wales, which will take place on October 15 at City Hall.

The annual conference provides an opportunity for those involved in promoting and maintaining high standards of conduct within authorities in Wales to come together and discuss issues.

The theme for this year’s conference is “Wales: An Ethical Country”.

The conference will reinforce the importance of the Members’ Code of Conduct as a fundamental part of political life, and to clearly bring out the connection between good conduct, good governance and excellent service delivery.

Speakers at this years event include Akmal Hanuk, Chair, Cardiff Council Standards & Ethics Committee, Peter Tyndall, Public Services Ombudsman for Wales and Dr Richard Cowell, Cardiff University

Plus Dr Brian Woods-Scawen, from The Committee on Standards in Public Life. The Committee has currently been conducting an inquiry into MPs’ expenses .

Workshops will also take place and will be led by Keith Bush, National Assembly for Wales, Gill Lewis, Wales Audit Office, Ken Burton, One Voice Wales , Keith Reeves, Dyfed Powys Police Authority and Pail Stockton from Cardiff Council Standards and Ethics Committee

Akmal Hanuk, Chair Cardiff Council Standards & Ethics Committee, said:
