Stones stolen from stately home

Police are appealing for information after a large quantity of heavy coping stones were stolen from a stately home.

Up to 15 coping stone blocks were taken from a boundary wall of the Erddig Hall estate on Sontley Road, Wrexham some time between Friday evening August 13 and the following morning, Saturday August 14.

Given the weight and number of blocks taken, the theft, on a steep section of the road, is believed to have involved a number of people and a vehicle capable for transporting the stones.

PC Andy Williams said ” I would is ask anyone with information about the theft or anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area to contact me at Wrexham police station by calling 101.”
