Street robbery in Bangor

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a street robbery in Bangor last night (Thursday, 18th March).

At approximately 7:30pm two women were walking along College Road near to the junction with Love Lane when they were approached by two men.

One of the men grabbed one of the woman’s bags and whilst she attempted to hold onto her bag both were dragged onto the floor. The men then ran down Love Lane.

As a result of the incident both women, aged 50 and 19, received minor knee injuries and one sustained additional injuries to her hands and head.

Police can confirm that a 42-year-old local man is currently in police custody after being arrested in connection with the incident; however police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or anyone who may have seen two men run down Love Lane to come forward.

Enquiries are ongoing and this afternoon officers will be distributing leaflets around some of the halls of residence in the area, in the hope that somebody may have information.
