StreetPride hotline delivers results

An overgrown rear lane in Newbridge has been blitzed by Caerphilly county borough council after local residents called a special hotline to report the problem.

The council’s environmental clean-up team demonstrated its commitment to pride in the local environment by clearing weeds and litter from the lane at Greenfield Street.

The team sprung into action following complaints from local residents via the ‘StreetPride’ hotline. Staff from the authority’s ‘Fast Forward’ and ‘Tidy Towns Tidy Places’ teams cut back vegetation and swept up the debris from the parcel of unkempt ground.

Local councillors were full of praise for the workforce and for the residents who phoned the ‘StreetPride’ hotline. “It’s great to see the transformation that has taken place at this former ‘grot spot’. Similar work is being undertaken across the county borough as we extend our efforts to improve the local environment for all our residents. The StreetPride hotline is proving an effective way for local people to get in touch to highlight any problems using one convenient number,” said Cllr Lyn Ackerman.

Not only was the overgrown plot of land cleaned up in double quick time, but the vegetation was also sent for composting. All part of the council’s continuing commitment to creating cleaner, greener, safer places.
