There is nothing like a different environment to get you thinking on your feet. Coleg Gwent students from different courses teamed up with the public services department at Ebbw Vale Campus for teambuilding activities in the Welsh countryside.
Hair and beauty students were recently put through their paces with military skills sessions on the Brecon Beacons, whilst Independent Living Skills (ILS) students brushed up on their teambuilding skills in Llanellen.
Level 3 Public Services students helped lecturer Tim Jarvis organise gorge walking and evade and ambush activities for hair and beauty students on the Brecon Beacons.
“It was a cold day and everyone was soaked, but students really got stuck in,” said hair and beauty lecturer Andrea King.
“The activities were fantastic and really helped to boost confidence and team spirit amongst the group.”
ILS students also teamed up with the public services department to visit a forest near Llanellen, where they got to grips with group work and effective communication skills.
As a thank you to the public services department, ILS students presented public services lecturer and Water Safety Officer for the Longtown Mountain Rescue Team, Tim Jarvis, with a cheque for £40 for the charity.
ILS students raised the money through various enterprise and fundraising activities at the campus throughout the year.
