Stunning orchid showcase

There’s something for everyone at the Wales Orchid Festival – whether you are a beginner, an expert or just simply curious.

The fourth Welsh orchid festival, which takes place at the National Botanic Garden of Wales next weekend (Sat-Sun, Sep 3-4), will be a fabulous showcase for nature’s largest flowering plant family.

Organised by the Orchid Study Group, the Festival’s schedule of talks includes ‘Growing Orchids on a Budget’ and ‘Common Sense Orchid Advice for Beginners’; and there are demonstrations such as ‘Orchid Potting and Mounting’ and ‘How to Grow Tropical Orchids’.

Well-known nurseries from Wales, England, Holland and Taiwan will be displaying and selling orchids in the main marquee. On offer will be everything from flasks and seedlings to rare species and special hybrids.

The event is open to the public from 10am-6pm on Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sunday.
