Summer clean up day in Llangefni

A multi-agency community clean-up within the Pencraig, Bro Tudur and Lon Talwrn areas of Llangefni will be taking place on Thursday, 17th June. 10am – 4pm.

Staff from North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, Tidy Island-Tidy Towns Project, Age Well, Keep Wales Tidy and North Wales Police will have a strong presence on the day along with the Community Safety bus, which has interactive fire safety games, advice and information for members of the community.

The main aim of the day will be to work in partnership with the local community to tackle environmental issues within the area. A clean-up event is being organised and the Tidy Towns-Tidy Island project will be making skips available for local residents of the Tudur Ward to dispose of general rubbish, green waste, old electrical goods and fridges/freezers.

Elin Jones, Tidy Towns-Tidy Island Project Coordinator from Isle of Anglesey County Council, said, “We can all do our bit to keep Anglesey clean and green, and we look forward to working with the community on the day.”

North Wales Fire and Rescue Service will also be taking part in the day and conducting free home fire safety checks in the homes of local residents.

Huw Roberts from North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, added, “During a check, a member of the service will come to your home, give fire safety hints and tips, help you to formulate a fire escape plan and if necessary, fit new smoke alarms on every level of your home. These checks are available for all residents in North Wales – to register, please phone 0800 169 1234, visit www.nwales-fireservice.org.uk or e-mail [email protected] and leave your contact details. A member of the Service will then be in contact to arrange a convenient time to visit your home.”
