Supporting Gwynedd communities to succeed

There will be a chance to learn more about regeneration projects which have secured European support through the Gwynedd Economic Partnership (PEG) at the partnership’s annual meeting and exhibition at Porthmadog on 16 September 2011.

Another matter which will be high on the agenda at the annual meeting will be the preparations for the post 2013 European funding programmes, and there will be an opportunity to discuss the shape and form of these programmes for the next period.

Dafydd Iwan, Chair of the Partnership, said: “Since 2000, PEG has secured £6.9 million worth of investment into the county’s economy through the Rural Development Programme for Wales by supporting projects throughout Gwynedd. It is vital that we build on this success and make strides now to prepare for the next period of European funding which will come after 2013.

“It is also worth remembering that PEG has given a helping hand to communities throughout Gwynedd by promoting the grants that are available and making sure that the public are aware of the help that’s on offer. There are some fantastic examples of exciting projects which have grown from our communities, and there will be an opportunity for us to see a number of them at the annual meeting.”

Alun Davies, the Welsh Government’s Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries, Food and European Programmes will address the meeting. Also, there will be an opportunity to learn more about local projects which have made the most of European funding as well as a chance to meet some people who have benefitted from the support in Gwynedd.

The PEG annual meeting will be held at Y Ganolfan, Porthmadog on Friday, 16 September – the meeting itself will begin at 2.30pm with the exhibition open from 12.30pm.

Those wishing to attend PEG’s annual meeting at Y Ganolfan in Porthmadog on 16 September 2011 will need to reserve a place. Contact PEG on 01286 679343 or [email protected] before Monday, 12 September 2011. For more information visit: www.gwyneddeconomy.info
