Supporting older people – information day in Dolgellau

Gwynedd Council and its partners will be holding a public information day in Glan Wnion Leisure Centre, Dolgellau between 12pm and 6pm on Friday, 29 July 2011. Entry is free along with a cup of tea and cake.

The aim of the day will be to provide residents with information and advice about services for older people in the area.

Gwynedd Council’s Portfolio Leader for Social Services, Councillor R H Wyn Williams, said:

“As well as being an opportunity to come over for a chat and a cuppa, the information day will provide an excellent opportunity for residents living in the Dolgellau area to receive information and advice from a range of organisations on matters such as social care, support to live at home independently, housing and safety at home.”

As part of the session, there will also be information about activities and local events in your area, socialising opportunities, help with financial matters, information and advice for people who look after someone who is ill or disabled and advice about health and well being matters.

Around 20 agencies will be part of the information day including Gwynedd Council, North Wales Police, North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, North Wales Housing, Tai Clwyd, Age Cymru, Trais yn y Cartref, Carers Outreach, Gofal a Thrwsio, Older People’s Council, Tenovus and Arthritis Care.

The information day for older people is being held on Friday, 29 July between 12pm and 6pm at the main hall at Glan Wnion Leisure Centre in Dolgellau.
