Supporting people 50+ – information day in Tywyn

Gwynedd Council and its partners will be holding a public information day in Tywyn from 10am to 2pm on Thursday, 3 November 2011. Entry is free along with a cup of tea and cake.

The aim of the day which will be held at the Baptist Church in the town is to provide residents with information and advice about services for people over 50 in the area which promote independence and keep people in their own homes.

Gwynedd Council’s Portfolio Leader for Social Services, Councillor Wyn Williams, said:

“As well as having a chat and a cuppa, the information day will provide an excellent opportunity for residents living in the Tywyn area to receive information and advice from a range of organisations on matters such as social care, support to live at home independently, housing and safety at home.”

As part of the session, there will also be information about activities and local events in your area, socialising opportunities, help with financial matters, information and advice for people who look after someone who is ill or disabled and advice about health and well being matters.

Around 15 agencies will be part of the information day including Gwynedd Council, the Fire Service, the Police, health workers, Age Cymru, the Red Cross and others.

The information day for older people is being held on Thursday, 3 November from 10am to 2pm at the Baptist Church on the High Street in Tywyn.

Gwynedd Council officers will be on-hand at the drop-in session to provide information. For more information, contact Gwynedd Council’s Social Services Customer Care and Information Unit on 01286 679 549 or email: [email protected]
