Swansea College celebrates another year of IB success

Swansea College is celebrating another 100% pass rate for its International Baccalaureate [IB] students this year.

“This is a fantastic achievement considering that the IB is such a demanding academic programme of study,” says the college’s IB Coordinator Sue Phillips. “The highest individual score was an amazing 39 points out of 45, which is an incredible result.”

Among the high scorers was Alex Benjamin, who recently scooped the A Level and the Arts Student of the Year award from the college and who is now heading to university to study Psychology with a focus on Neuroscience.

“Without the IB I probably wouldn’t have gone down that path but I know now it’s what I want to do,” says Alex. “I didn’t really know what to do when I finished my GCSEs so the IB was ideal – it covers six subjects as well as Theory of Knowledge so the diversity of the subjects suited me.”
