Swansea Uni team wins another national award for HR

Swansea University has won the award for Outstanding Human Resources Team at the annual Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards.

Their victory was witnessed by more than 800 people at a ceremony in London, held in association with the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education, to celebrate the sector’s achievements.

This latest success comes shortly after the team won another award for business efficiency for its Performance Enabling Programme, from UHR, the professional organisation for Human Resources practitioners.

According to the judges, the Swansea team displayed evidence of real improvement, impressing the judges with its systematic approach and the development of an innovative framework making communications both easier and more efficient.

Now in their fourth year, the awards are a highlight of the academic calendar and aim to celebrate the sector’s leadership, management, financial and business skills. They showcase the extraordinary innovation, teamwork and commercial acumen of UK higher education institutions.

David Williams, Director of Human Resources at Swansea University, said:

“We are absolutely thrilled by this award, especially coming so soon after the UHR award.  It is a real tribute not only to the HR team at Swansea but also to all the people throughout the University who have contributed to this success.”

“John Gill, editor of Times Higher Education, commented: “The sector should take great reassurance from the extraordinary examples of creativity, commitment and sheer hard work that the awards judges have recognised.”
