Tara enjoys the limelight

Animal lover Grace Ball and her pet pooch received star treatment in front of the camera at a professional photographic studio after winning in a special pet care competition.

Grace, from Caerphilly, won a photographic studio session with the award winning Dearden Studio of Bedwas to have a professional photograph taken of her dog Tara, a Jack Russell Terrier.

Grace won the prize having completed a special quiz at this year’s Big Cheese Festival. The quiz was part of Caerphilly Council’s Trading Standards exhibition on Pet Welfare, which provided information and tips on how to look after pets, along with highlighting the legal duty pet owners have to ensure that their pets are properly cared for.

Cabinet member for Public Protection, Engineering and Transport, Rob Gough who presented Grace with her prize recently said, “I’m glad that Grace and Tara enjoyed their day at the studio and I’m sure the fantastic photo will take pride of place within their home. The exhibition at this year’s Big Cheese event was a big success and allowed us to provide lots of people with useful information and advice on issues linked to pet care and welfare.”

“As a dog owner myself I recognise the importance of responsible pet ownership and I’m delighted to be involved in this scheme, ” he added.

Caerphilly county borough council Trading Standards are part of an all Wales initiative whereby Local Authorities, Welsh Assembly Government & animal welfare organisations are working together to raise the profile of pet welfare issues in Wales and to promote amongst pet owners an increased understanding of their responsibilities.
