TC visits local school to give health & safety advice and energy saving tips

TC, Tai Ceredigion’s friendly family mascot recently visited Llwyn Yr Eos Primary School in Penparcau, Aberystwyth with Lynda Mason George, Tai Ceredigion’s Community Inclusion Advisor, to talk about health and safety while phase one of the Welsh Assembly ARBED scheme improvements plans are in motion.

The Penybont flats in Penparcau are undergoing a total revamp with the help of the funding and will have new external wall insulation, a secure door entry system with new CCTV, new windows and new heating systems. Scaffolding has been surrounding the blocks of flats for the last few months and the sessions included spotting dangers and keeping safe on building sites and learning about how the new insulation will save tenants money.

Steve Jones, Chief Executive of Tai Ceredigion said “It is critical that everyone abides by the health and safety guidelines around the working site. As tenants and families are still living in the flats while the work is going on it is important that everyone is extra vigilant and stays safe.”

Mr Evans, Headteacher of Llwyn Yr Eos Primary School said “We were delighted that Tai Ceredigion came to see us and spoke to the children about the health and safety issues around the site. Our pupils loved every second but the icing on the cake was meeting TC.”
