Tee off for charity

Residents of Rhondda Cynon Taf are being invited to “tee off” for charity at the popular Mayor’s Charity Golf Tournament.

As well as supporting the good causes Rhondda Cynon Taf’s First Citizen has chosen for his year in office, the event also offers great prizes and, importantly, a good time to be had by all.

Mayor Cllr Robert Smith is inviting people to join him at Aberdare Golf Club on Friday October 23, for a competition that includes cash prizes for the first, second and third pairs (£200, £100 and £50 respectively), spot prizes for the longest drive and nearest the pin, refreshments at the halfway house and a two-course meal on completion of the course.

The pairs competition will have best Stableford score to count and full handicap will apply on the day with, for the purpose of the competition, those with a handicap over 21 playing off 21.

The cost of the day, which includes a formal presentation of prizes and so on at 6pm, is £80 per pair and includes all of the above.

All proceeds will go to the chosen charities of Mayor Cllr Smith, which this year are: Diabetes UK (Cymru), MacMillan Cancer Support and Help for Heroes.

Cllr Smith said: “The golf tournament is always good fun for all involved. Everyone enjoys an excellent competition amid stunning surroundings, with the chance to win great prizes as well.

“Most importantly, this popular event helps to raise the profile of three very good causes and raise the funds they need to carry on their good work, which benefits the people of Rhondda Cynon Taf and beyond.”

The closing date for entries is October 9. For more information, contact 01443 425700 or download an application form from www.whatsonrct.co.uk
