A youth theatre production that gives a true insight into what effects a world at war has had on young people today will arrive in Blackwood this month.
‘Bassett’ is a pacy, funny and exhausting look at young people who have inherited a world at war, who, as they grow older, are starting to ask questions about conflicts, their country and themselves.
A Caerphilly County Youth Theatre production, in association with National Theatre Connections 2011, all 22 ‘Bassett’ cast and crew members are from schools and colleges across Caerphilly county borough.
The production will take place between Monday 14th February and Thursday 17th February at Blackwood Miners Institute, starting at 8pm.
The story begins… It’s lunchtime and a group of GCSE pupils studying citizenship in a school in Wootton Bassett have been locked into a classroom by a supply teacher.
They are anxious to get out and attend a repatriation procession for a brave soldier who lost his life while fighting for his country. Tensions are mounting…
Bassett is written by James Graham and directed by Tony Gallagher, assisted by Rebecca Millett.
Tickets are priced at £7 and £5 for concessions – the production contains some strong language is suitable for an audience aged 15+.
