Clwyd West AM Darren Millar is delighted that a number of parks and green spaces in his constituency have been awarded the prestigious Keep Wales Tidy ‘Green Flag Award’.

This year Wales’ leading environmental charity has given the award to a record 65 parks and 36 community managed green spaces across Wales and Darren is pleased that the list includes a number in Clwyd West.

Abergele’s Pentre Mawr Park, Bryn Euryn Allotments and Local Nature Reserve in Rhos on Sea, Llanrhos Lawn Cemetery, Queens Gardens in Colwyn Bay, Wynn Gardens in Old Colwyn and Denbighshire’s Loggerheads Country Park are all recipients of the Green Flag.

Darren said:

“I have always been proud of Conwy and Denbighshire’s magnificent parks and green spaces and I am extremely pleased that the effort that goes into maintaining them has been recognised by Keep Wales Tidy.

“These awards are something well worth celebrating and testament to the efforts of the hardworking teams at Conwy County Council and Denbighshire County Council, supported by some amazing volunteers, who work tirelessly to maintain the high standards demanded by the Green Flag Award – they all deserve a huge pat on the back. Let’s keep these standards up so locals and visitors alike can enjoy these beauty spots for many more years to come.”

Joanna Friedli, Keep Wales Tidy Green Flag Co-ordinator added: “Keep Wales Tidy is extremely proud that so many parks and green spaces in Wales have reached the high standards necessary to achieve Green Flag status. The feedback received from our experienced volunteer judges in regards to the dedication and effort shown by staff and volunteers at these parks has been fantastic.

“I would like to pass on our congratulations to every single park receiving the Green Flag Award 2014/2015 and the Community Awards 2014/15 and hope that together we can continue to raise the standards of parks and green space in Wales and provide our communities with fantastic facilities to enjoy throughout the year.”
