Top names on food festival menu

The biggest names in Welsh food are lining up for the West Wales Food Festival on May 14-15.

Bryn Williams, Stephen Terry, Gareth John and Angela Gray are some of the key ingredients for this year’s event at the National Botanic Garden of Wales.

These kings and queens of Celtic cuisine will be cooking up a storm in the Leekes Festival Kitchen and providing priceless tips and special advice for folk to put on the menu in their own homes.

The two-day festival will feature the very best food and drink that Carmarthenshire and the surrounding areas have to offer, plus talks and tours on a range of subjects, including growing your own veg, keeping bees, gathering wild food, making ‘killer’ compost – and there will be visits down on the farm to meet our rare-breed lambs and Welsh Black calves.

The popular Children Zone will offer a host of fun family activities including ‘make and bake’ sessions and an Apron Design workshop, while there will be a top-notch craft fair in the Great Glasshouse.

Again this year there is the chance to dine on a sumptuous sit-down meal prepared by three top Welsh chefs – they will be providing once course each – at the Festival Gala Dinner on the Sunday night.

Head of marketing at the Garden David Hardy said: “It’s always a fabulous couple of days with something for everyone and some music and magic to add a special festival flavour to the pot.”
