Top Stylist Leads Fashion Show at Wrexham Shopping Centre

A TOP stylist swapped the catwalks of London, Paris, Milan and New York for a series of spectacular fashion shows at a busy shopping centre.

EEx model Jo Wilson, who shared a catwalk with the likes of Canadian superstar Linda Evangelista, picked out the latest Spring and Summer designs for the Fashion Frames event at the Eagles Meadow Shopping Centre in Wrexham.

The event was choreographed by Glenn Ball, who has also worked alongside Mariah Carey, Lionel Ritchie, Take That, Jennifer Lopez and Scissor Sisters.

Among the stores taking part were M&S, Debenhams, H&M, Ragazzi, Wallis, Topshop and Topman, Next, Dorothy Perkins, Burton, River Island and Bank. Mococo provided the jewellery worn by the models.

Jo, who has strutted her stuff on catwalks in New York, Paris, Milan, and London, said: “Obviously we’re going into Spring Summer so there’s lots and lots beautiful colours out there at the moment.

“We have strong, bold colours, all very bright. We have pastels for the girls, the bright colours for the boys.

“We’re coming out of those awful winter months where everybody has been wearing blacks, browns and greys.

“It’s nice to have some colour in your life, some colour in your wardrobe, because it brightens up your life. I’m looking for string vibrant colours. You’ll find if you lift a nice colour to your face it just lifts your complexion, and it makes you feel a bit better as well.

Eagles Meadow shopper Kelsey Jones, 13, who goes to Ysgol y Grango, in Rhos, near Wrexham, enjoyed the event.

She said: “I think the show was entertaining. I enjoyed the dancing and the good-looking models.

“I come to Eagles Meadow a lot to shops like Top Shop and River Island. I go to Nando’s because I love chicken.

Fellow pupil Theo Harrocks, 12, added: “ I like having this like this on at Eagles Meadow because it’s entertaining. I come here every weekend really. I go to the cinema.

Pulling moves at the show was professional dancer Claire Meehan, 31, who got her big break at the 2003 MTV Europe Music Awards in Edinburgh alongside Justin Timberlake and Kylie Minogue.

Since then she has performed all over the world, in Australia, Hong Kong, China, Korea, South Africa, Thailand, across Europe Beirut, and she’s even danced in front of the Pyramids in Egypt.

She said: “One minute you’re doing a TV show, the next you’re doing a fashion show, we’re doing a music video, going on tour, so it’s all very different from one day to the next.

“Justin and Kylie are both great. I’ve worked with Kylie for about 10 years and she’s a wonderful lady. She’s exactly like she is on The Voice.

“The clothes we’ve been wearing at Eagles Meadow are gorgeous. Hopefully it can give people ideas on what combinations of clothes they can put together.

“Jo has an eye for those sorts of things so it’s great to work with her.”

Compering the show was Chris Bieszke, 30, from Manchester, who has appeared in a McDonalds advert with his identical twin Craig.

He said: “A lot of people are used to seeing fashion shows where models just walk up and down a catwalk but when they dance in the clothes it really brings them to life.

“I think it makes it more interesting and a lot more fun for people to watch as well. It’s great to see the clothes in action

Eagles Meadow manager, Kevin Critchley, said: “The show is a whole new concept and a first for Eagles Meadow and Wrexham.

“To have a stylist like Jo put the show together along with other professional dancers and models who have worked with some of the biggest names in showbiz is a real coup for Wrexham.

“It will really put Eagles Meadow on the fashion map and show that you don’t need to travel to the major cities to find the latest designs and best outfits.”
