Twinkle, twinkle little star

Have you ever wondered what is out there in the night sky? Do your children love the moon and stars and do you wish you could tell them more? Flat Holm Island, in association with Cardiff Astronomical Society (CAS) invite’s you to spend the night inspecting the nearby wonders of our solar system.

This half term why not enjoy an evening of stargazing with experienced astronomers, who will be on hand to discuss and answer any questions you may have. Flat Holm offers an overnight experience with a difference, and is the perfect place to gaze upon the night sky without the interruption of the city’s neon cloud.

Star observing is weather permitting and should it be cloudy during the evening there will be three presentations by CAS members Martin Chick, Mark Major and Chris Fluck. Included in the trip price, our local specialists can also offer the opportunity to safely observe the sun through specialist equipment on the Sunday morning before heading back to the mainland.

This outdoor weekend also enable stargazers to take advantage of cooking their own food on our traditional stone BBQ’s in the farmhouse garden or in the event of poor weather using indoor kitchen facilities are available.

Trip departs Cardiff Bay Barrage 17.15pm on Saturday 28th October returning Sunday 29th October at 19.45pm.

Adults £50 Child £35 (aged 4 and above) This includes the return boat trip, dormitory style accommodation, guided tour, specialist talks and the star gazing experience itself!
