The former Network Manager in Wrexham, Geraint Jones, has been honoured with an award in recognition of his “outstanding contribution” to the United Kingdom Highways Authorities’ by the Joint Authority Group (JAG) UK.
The award was presented to Geraint by the Mayor, Cllr Arwel Jones, who congratulated Geraint on his achievement.
Geraint has taken part in implementing the Traffic Management Act of 2004 across Wales and helped provide a coordinated approach to many of Wrexham’s major traffic management schemes over the last 13 years.
Geraint was also instrumental in organising the North Wales Highways and Utilities Committee Roadshow, an event to bring together industry and clients. The event was so successful it is planned to hold it annually.
Geraint, who now works in the Council’s Emergency Planning team said:
“I am very pleased and honoured to receive this reward. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the colleagues in North Wales and in Wrexham’s Network Management team for their support. I now look forward to using the experience I have gained in my new role as Emergency Planning Officer.”
JAG is an organisation which represents the best interests of all highway and road authorities in the UK on street works and traffic management issues, advising Governments and working with them and utility companies in the production of legislation, regulations and codes of practice. Their aim is to help our members with advice notes, guidance and mediation whenever necessary.
