Update on snow-related issues in Ceredigion
- 80 tonnes of salt were yesterday received from the Welsh Assembly Government . Delivery of another 120 tonnes from Salt Union is still awaited.
- Domestic refuse and recycling collection services across the whole of Ceredigion have been suspended until further notice. Residents are asked to take back from the kerbside material that they have put out in the expectation of its being collected. Ceredigion’s website at www.ceredigion.gov.uk will carry daily information from Monday 11 January 2010 noting whether or not services remain suspended.
- Ceredigion’s Highways, Property and Works staff are working 24 hour shifts with refuse collection staff and staff taken from projects suspended owing to the weather conditions having been redeployed to assist clearing secondary roads and pavements.
- Although all primary routes in Ceredigion are passable with care, secondary routes still require extreme caution with many minor roads still heavily iced, with some still overlain with snow.
- Protocols have been agreed to assist the Hywel Dda Health Boardto assist where possible in the delivery of essential pharmaceuticals to outlying communities and vulnerable individuals.
- Ceredigion County Council is extremely grateful to the Environment Agency Wales for its support in offering use of 4×4 vehicles and to the West Wales 4×4 Club for its members’ assistance with delivering meals on wheels to vulnerable people.
