Officers investigating the burglary of Coslech sewage treatment works in Groesfaen have concerns that clothing stolen could be used by bogus callers to commit distraction burglaries.
A range of items were stolen from the premises which are occupied by utility company Welsh Water, including copper cabling, a desktop computer and printer, digital cameras and branded clothing, such as fluorescent jackets and polo shirts.
The incident happened some time on Sunday (February 21).
Anyone who has any information about the theft can contact Talbot Green Police Station on 101 or contact Crimestoppers via 0800 555 111.
Detective Sergeant Paul Latham, said: “Clothing of this type would be difficult to sell on as it is branded by the utility company.
“Our greatest concern is that the clothing stolen has ended up in the wrong hands and could be used by opportunists to dupe vulnerable people into thinking they are legitimate utility company officials to commit burglaries.
“Anybody who suspects they may have been visited by somebody falsely claiming to be from Welsh Water should contact us immediately.
“The easiest way to find out if cold callers are legitimate is to ask for proper ID.”
Welsh Water customers can call the company on 0800 281 141 to confirm the caller’s identity.
