Vale libraries working hard for local people

Libraries in the Vale of Glamorgan are now offering even more services as they become local contact points for council services.

Residents can collect recycling bags and dog waste bags from the libraries, pick up refuse and recycling calendars and drop by for recycling permits. Job application packs and TeleV applications for the council’s personal care alarm service are available too. The librarians can also help residents with a range of enquiries about council services.

Kit Wilson, assistant manager of the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s contact centre, C1V, said: “Our library service is as popular as ever, with thousands of books and DVDs borrowed every year. We hope being able to access council services through the libraries, which are acting as local contact points, will be really useful for our residents – saving them trips to council offices. Of course service requests can also be made through the council’s website and by calling C1V. ”

The Vale council provides nine libraries, the County Library in Barry, Cowbridge, Dinas Powys, Llantwit Major, Penarth, Rhoose, St Athan, Sully and Wenvoe.
