Two of Caerphilly county borough’s most popular tourism attractions have received awards after winning the seal of approval from visitors.

Llancaiach Fawr Manor and Cwmcarn Forest have both been awarded a Certificate of Excellence from online travel site TripAdvisor. The prestigious award recognises businesses that consistently earn top ratings from TripAdvisor travellers.

Llancaiach Fawr Manor offers residents and visitors an historic interpretation of life back in 1645, and those who have been to experience this popular attraction have left glowing praise on TripAdvisor:

“Really nice to visit a piece of local history well maintained and cared for by the clearly hard working and motivated staff who have a passion for the place and their roles. If you are really interested in local history the people here really know their stuff and it was a good day out.”

“Love the history re-enactments and the actors really push the boat out to get the public involved. Spotlessly clean. Food excellent. Well done!”

Cwmcarn Forest attracts thousands of people to the Nantcarn Valley every year with its magnificent views, walking trails, mountain bike routes, and camping. The venue has proven a hit with TripAdvisor users from near and far:

“A great place to go biking, walking, bird watching, walking your dog and so much more. The valley is so beautiful. I would highly recommend it.”

“Basically, this drive is spectacular during the summer months, especially on a sunny day. The views of the hills and valleys are splendid. A treat for cyclists as there are many cycle routes. There are many campsites with barbecue facilities and kids’ play areas. Overall a great family day out.”

Diane Walker, General Manager at Llancaiach Fawr Manor, said:” We love sharing this very special historic house with the public and showing them what life was like in the 17th century- it’s a real sensory experience that involves all the family in a chance to time travel.”

Michael Owen, Cwmcarn Forest Project Manager, said: “We’re delighted that visitors to Cwmcarn Forest continue to rate us among the finest attractions in Wales, as ultimately it is visitors who shape the success of tourism venues.

“We work very hard here at Cwmcarn Forest to maximise visitor experience, and I hope that this TripAdvisor award helps further raise our public profile.”

Cllr Ken James, Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Planning & Sustainable Development, said: “We know that positive visitor feedback is one of the best adverts for a tourism business, and reading the experiences of visitors to Llancaiach Fawr Manor and Cwmcarn Forest makes me extremely proud to have these two flagship tourist hotspots here in the county borough.

“These Certificates of Excellence from TripAdvisor can only enhance the reputation of these two popular attractions.”
