Warning over tarmac gangs

Pembrokeshire County Council’s Public Protection Division is  warning the public to be extra vigilant following a spate of complaints about a rogue tarmac gang operating in the County.

The Council’s Trading Standards team has received reports from both traders and members of the public, who have been approached recently.

Often one person will make the initial contact and claim to have tarmac left over from another job. In some cases the work is started without prior agreement and carried out to a poor standard. The final price is usually inflated and the gang is intimidating if the customer is reluctant to pay.

If you receive a suspicious call and need advice you are advised to  report the matter via Consumer Direct Wales on 08454 04 05 06 (Welsh line 08454 04 05 05).
