2012 CIPR Cymru PRide Awards shortlist announced.

The shortlists for the 2012 CIPR PRide Awards have been announced this morning, with over 1,000 entries from throughout the twelve UK regions and nations.

CIPR CEO, Jane Wilson MCIPR, commented: “The CIPR PRide Awards celebrate the best PR and communications campaigns and teams from the profession across the UK. To be shortlisted for a CIPR PRide Award demonstrates exemplary achievement, impact and value – immediately putting your work in the spotlight. The sheer number of high quality entries received this year, especially when things are still pretty tough out there economically, is testament to a thriving nationwide industry. Congratulations to everyone for reaching this stage and the best of luck for the awards presentation evenings.”

In Wales, agencies Golley Slater and Working Word, with nine and six campaign nominations respectively, are competing with Equinox and Effective Communication for the Outstanding Consultancy category. From the public sector, Hybu Cyg Cymru – Meat Promotion Wales and Carmarthenshire Council, each with four campaigns nominated are battling with Newport Council for the Outstanding In House Team award.

The Outstanding Young Communicator category is always hotly contested in Wales and this year’s shortlist includes Bobbie Davies (Grayling Wales), Sara Robinson (Cake Communications), Hannah Thomas (WEPR) and Adam Wheeler (Hybu Cig Cymru – Meat Promotion Wales).

Chair of CIPR Cymru, Val Bodden, commented: “Competition this year has been intense, with a great mix of agency, private, public and third sector campaigns demonstrating the calibre of the PR and communications activity in and from Wales. ”

The judging process is rigorous with a national panel of industry experts assessing the shortlisted entries and choosing the winners. The 2012 CIPR PRide Awards Chairs of Judges, Gill Dandy FCIPR, Senior Consultant at The Centre for Strategy and Communication, and Chris Genasi FCIPR, Senior Consultant at APCO Worldwide, assisted in ensuring a fair and consistent judging process.

Gill Dandy, commented: “I would like to congratulate all of the individuals and teams that have been shortlisted across the twelve regions and nations in the UK – you should all feel extremely proud for getting this far! The standard of entries continues to improve year on year which demonstrates an increasingly vibrant public relations profession. The judging process remained as robust as ever in its goal to ensure recognition and reward are hard won. I am sincerely grateful for the dedication, commitment and expertise given freely by the all of this year’s CIPR PRide Awards judges.”

The winners of the 2012 Cymru PRide Awards will be announced at an awards dinner taking place on 19 October at the Hilton, Cardiff.
