As part of the Festival of British Archaeology, Llancaiach Fawr Manor is holding a special Archaeology Day this weekend (Sunday 17th July).
There will be activities for children, talks, a finds table, a metal detector survey and a display of photos etc taken during the excavation by Time Team in June 2010. The television programme, originally shown in April this year, has recently been repeated under the title ‘The Mystery of the Moat’ and provoked much comment.
Cardiff Archaeology Unit will be present to talk about their work and – weather-permitting – will open a small trench to continue the quest for answers about this intriguing site while children can make Bronze Age-style pots and wheel-thown pots.
This is a FREE event and will run from 11am – 4pm. For more information visit www.llancaiachfawr.co.uk
