Wheelchair basketball festival nets a winner

Swansea’s wheelchair basketball club, Swansea Storm, is going from strength to strength after its first ever festival in the sport was a huge success.

The club is looking forward to repeating the event in future years after the festival attracted players and coaches from as far away as Pembroke and Cardiff.

Swansea Storm hosted the festival at the LC last week and members of Wales’ under-16 and under-19 wheelchair basketball squads took part.

Nicola Rogers, Swansea’s disability sports development officer, said: “The event proved a huge success and we will be looking to hold the event bi-annually. It will be an ideal talent spotting event for the Federation of Disability Sport Wales covering South and West Wales.”

Anyone wanting further details of how to get involved in the club, or any other disability sports in Swansea, should contact Nicola Rogers on 01792 635460.
