Newport Wastesavers who collect residents recycling in Newport would like to inform residents why wrapping paper cannot be recycled.
UPM Shotton, the paper reprocessors Wastesavers use, will not accept wrapping paper as it is often not pure paper at all. Wrapping paper is made up of a combination of paper, foil/metal, wax and other material that they have extreme trouble recycling. The inks, dyes and other colouring materials also present them with difficulty during the wash process.
