Traffic on the A55 was plagued by road works for 314 days during 2010.
According to his response to a Written Assembly Question from North Wales AM Brynle Williams, the Deputy First Minister confirmed that the road was only free from works for 51 days last year.
Mr Williams said: “These near-constant road works are a daily misery for motorists in North Wales.
“It is unacceptable that traffic on the A55 was free-flowing for – on average – just one day a week last year.
“The whole farce is holding back economic recovery in the region and causing untold disruption.
“I am urging the Welsh Assembly Government to get a grip on the problems it is causing and deliver the good transport links that North Wales so desperately needs.”
