Visitors to Morgan Jones Park in Caerphilly can now fit in a workout while they enjoy the beautiful surroundings thanks to the installation of a new outdoor gym.
The free outdoor fitness facility has been installed by Caerphilly County Borough Council to help promote active lifestyles, health and well being among its residents.
The new outdoor gym offers a range of equipment including pull ups/assisted pull up apparatus, leg and bench presses, a cross trainer, lat pull down/shoulder press and a chest press/seated row.
The facilities at Morgan Jones Park mirror equipment installed at Blackwood Showfields in December 2012.
Cllr David Poole, Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Community & Leisure Services, said: “This new facility, which is open all year round, demonstrates our commitment to help encourage active and healthier living. The outdoor gym has already proved popular with the local community – indeed all age groups and abilities have been using the equipment and it is pleasing to see the enthusiasm of local people taking advantage of this free facility.
“I would like to thank the local members for their support and the staff at Morgan Jones Park who have championed this innovative project. They should all be very proud.”
