A woman who repeatedly caused excessive noise in breach of a noise abatement notice has been successfully prosecuted by Gwynedd Council’s Public Protection Service for the second time in seven months.
At a hearing at Caernarfon Magistrates Court on 24 November 2010, Ms Peta Kyne, 46, of Ffordd Caernarfon, Y Felinheli pleaded guilty to the offence of breaching a noise abatement notice by playing loud music at her home on 23 May 2010.
Ms Kyne was ordered to pay a total of £400 in fines and costs.
The court heard that this was not the first time for Ms Kyne to be found guilty of breaching a noise abatement notice. On 19 May 2010, Gwynedd Council was successful in its case against her following complaints about loud noise at her home on 26 September 2009. This resulted in Ms Kyne being given a two year conditional discharge and ordered to pay £100 costs.
After last week’s hearing, Councillor John R Jones, Gwynedd Council’s Resources Senior Portfolio Leader, said: “We are satisfied with the outcome of this case. Everyone has the right to live their lives in peace without being disturbed by excessive noise which causes irritation and stress.
“Gwynedd Council’s Public Protection Service is dedicated to ensuring that people do not have to suffer from pollution or nuisance such as noise and this is just one of the many areas where the council’s Environmental Health Department protects the rights of the residents of Gwynedd.”
